Applet Walter Fendt Law of Radioactive Decay: Click HERE.

Radon-220 alpha decays to form Polonium-216 which decays to form Lead-212. Polonium-216 has a very short half-life of 0.14 s. This means that an alpha decay of Radon-220 is immediately followed by another alpha decay of Polonium-216. This double-decay results in those breathtaking “two petal” tracks in the cloud chamber.
