13.2.1 Water Flow Analogy

To a layman, current is simply the rate of flow of charges. It is measured in amperes (symbol A) by an ammeter.

Just like a flow meter measures the amount of water (in kg) passing through a pipe per unit time, an ammeter measures the amount of charges (in C) passing through a wire per unit time.
